Independent pharmacy embraces online

Ireland-based McNallys launches e-commerce channel to promote and expand brand reach and support development of local employment and customer service

McNallys Pharmacy, a bricks-and-mortar pharmacy located in Market Square, Kingscourt, County Cavan have recently launched a new e-commerce website to promote various aspects of their product offering and expand the geographical reach of the brand.

With a goal to develop a new sophisticated internet presence, the new site is also expected help create more local employment in the areas of fulfilment and online customer service.

The site, www.McNallyspharmacy365.ie, represents a serious investment by McNallys in the online channel and in technology to serve the growing number of online pharmacy customers in Ireland. It gives customers the ability to order their repeat prescriptions online and the choice of either collecting the prescription instore or using a local prescription delivery service. 

E-commerce platform supports strategic move

McNallys worked with e-commerce specialist Buy4Now to design, develop and support its online systems. Buy4Now provides an ‘end-to-end’ software platform to manage the processing of online orders, customer service communications and email marketing.

The move into online retailing was described as “strategic” by McNally spokesman, David McNally, who added: “We were anxious to develop an online presence that would be topical, relevant and, above all, interactive. We have some fresh ideas that we hope will attract people back to the site again and again.

McNally added: “Buy4Now were both enthusiastic in their support and innovative in their solutions as we strove to come up with a site that best reflected our objectives; one of which is to offer more choice and a more personal experience to online customers.”
