AR and unmanned checkouts at AS Watson store

By Retail Technology | Monday June 4 2018

Superdrug parent company AS Watson Group (ASW) has opened its new concept store CKC18 in Hong Kong

The 26,000 sq ft store brings together the company’s top retail formats and is divided four sections including the tech-enhanced WatsonsLab area.

WatsonsLab is a specialised Watsons boutique offering a “Beauty bar” that carries numerous global leading beauty brands and uses Augmented Reality-enabled (AR) technology, including the “Style Me” App virtual make-up service, and unmanned checkouts.

The new store also includes a food hall called ‘food le parc’ where consumers can use the Scan & Go function in the MoneyBack app to pay for items. They simply take the products, scan the barcodes with their phones and pay at self-checkout counters.

ASW group managing director Dominic Lai said: “With the determination to accelerate digital transformation, ASW is glad to introduce the latest retail technologies to optimise shopping experience in a convenient and innovative approach.”
