Amazon trials humanoid warehouse robots

By Retail Technology | Friday October 20 2023

Retail giant Amazon is trialling humanoid robots at its US warehouses

Called Digit, the robot has arms and legs and can move, grasp and handle items like humans.

Amazon Robotics’ chief technologist, Tye Brady, told reporters at a press briefing that people were “irreplaceable”, and disputed the suggestion that the company could use fully-automated warehouses in the future.

“There’s not any part of me that thinks that would ever be a reality,” he said.
