As the industry’s most influential regional event for retail IT executives, the European Retail Technology Summit aims to provide a chance to test and redefine assessments of the pan-European retail IT landscape.

This year’s theme, “Retail’s New Normal – leveraging IT to influence outcomes in a value-conscious world,” takes account of the fact that many in the industry consider that 2010 will herald the beginnings of global economic recovery, where the smart retailers are preparing to aggressively seize competitive advantages wherever they become available.

Leading trade body support

Co-produced by two leading retail trade organisations – Germany’s EHI Retail Institute and the US National Retail Federation (NRF) – the 2010 Summit will help retailers identify and deploy strategic technology and business advancements to help them thrive in the coming year.

Held over one and a half days, the event’s educational programme features retailer practitioners and industry experts, gathered to share their knowledge and real-world insights on topics that are global, relevant and forward thinking. This year’s speakers include key senior executives from global brands, including Gerry Weber International, Sonae Distribuição, Bestbuy.com and Land’s End, as well as the Casino and METRO Groups.

ERTS-Logo_2010Ulrich Spaan, EHI Retail Institute vice president of trade shows and research IT told Retail Technology: “The summit consistently draws high-level participants from multiple retail sectors, who come together to share and hear experiences on key issues facing the retail industry.”

Tackling mission-critical operations

He added that summit delegates will have the opportunity to learn about the latest trends in retail technology, business process optimisation, multichannel integration, and international IT standards – across many retail formats and sectors.”

With key technology sponsors, such as Bizerba, Planalytics, Star Micronics and Wincor Nixdorf, the EHI and NRF will also offer attendees the chance to relax, discuss the first day’s proceedings, network and be entertained at a gala evening event, held in the famous and grand surroundings of former church and landmark, Koepelkerk Amsterdam.

The event will be held next month, on 23 to 24 June, at the Dorint Hotel, Amsterdam in The Netherlands, within easy reach of Schiphol Airport. More information is available on the European Retail Technology Summit website and prospective delegates can register here.
