Esso rolls out payments app

By Retail Technology | Friday October 20 2017

Esso is rolling out its mobile payments app across UK service stations

Available on iOS and Android, the app allows users to pay for fuel at the pump while collecting Tesco Clubcard points.

The user simply opens the app, selects the pump number and authorised payment before filling up. The app confirms the amount paid after he pump is replaced and emails the user a digital receipt.

Christopher Smith, mobile payment and loyalty manager for Esso, said: “Esso is committed to providing our customers with the best possible experience at our stations, and the app has been designed to save time as you don’t need to queue to pay, yet you can still accumulate Clubcard points.”

The app also allows the user to identify and receive directions to stations using the payment service via a ‘Fuel Finder’ option.

A total of 70 Esso stations are already using the payments service with more being added.
