Specialist shoe retailer enjoys continued store connectivity with store comms contract renewal

Charles Clinkard has renewed its contract with retail communications solution provider, Vodat International, who will continue to provide its Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network to all stores for electronic file transfer (EFT), voice-over internet protocol (VoIP), polling and general communications.

Charles Clinkard introduced a new electronic point-of-sale (EPoS) solution across the estate, which used high speed real-time communication, so the need to maintain and continue to support Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) communication links in each of its stores was necessary.

Proven service delivers clear choice

Roger West, IT manager at Charles Clinkard, said: “We choose to renew with Vodat based on the competitive proposal that was put forward. Vodat’s continued support means we experienced no disruption to ours stores as the WAN [wide area network] was already in place. We we’re already pleased with the quality and the level of support we had received from Vodat so far, so for Clinkards it was an obvious choice to re-sign with Vodat.

West added: “The business has grown over the years and we now operate 34 stores across the country and have over 550 employees, communication from our head office to stores is vital to our business continuing to run successfully.”

Mike Bielinski, chief executive at Vodat International, said: “With the introduction of the new PoS system, the stores needed access to email, stock data, intranet and a new VoIP phone system. Secure, reliable broadband communications were necessary and we are delighted to continue to provide this service to Charles Clinkard.”
