Department store retailer signs up with BT to offer shoppers wireless internet access across its estate as part of its plans to boost customer service

Fenwick has announced the signing of an agreement with IT and telecoms provider BT to give its shoppers free, unlimited Wi-Fi at its 11 UK department stores.

The move means some 64 million annual store visitors will now be able to use the internet while browsing.

Keeping customers connected

The new service will be available at no charge throughout the stores, including cafes and fitting rooms. Shoppers will be able to use the service to read product reviews online, share potential purchases on social networks, check email or catch up on news and sports.

The new Wi-Fi service is being made available this month. Shoppers will need to enter their email address to log on via any wireless-enabled smartphone, tablet or PC.

Customer service commitment

Mark Fenwick, chairman of Fenwick, said: This partnership with BT is an important step in our ongoing commitment to provide greater customer service.

Fenwick is the latest retailer to sign up to the providers wireless service. BT recently announced video games retailer GAME and, previously, WHSmith had also signed up to offer customers free instore Wi-Fi.
